Play Therapy with Children

Service Description

Play therapy can be extremely powerful and effective for children and families. Play gives children a voice to express themselves, and parents an avenue to understand their children's inner world. Play therapy provides a safe space for parents and children to process emotions and to enhance their relationship. We provide a mix of child-centered play therapy, where children get to direct the session towards what is needed for their process, and more directive play therapy to build coping skills and parenting strategies based on interpersonal neurobiology and family systems theories. Depending on the therapeutic goals and the child's age and needs, sometimes sessions will be one-on-one with the child and therapist, and sometimes multiple family members will be involved in the sessions with the play therapist.
